The Australian White, Straw-necked, and Glossy Ibis species are native to northern Australia and have been revered by First Nations peoples for thousands of years. 
 
This collection also references the African sacred ibis, celebrated in ancient Egyptian history as the deity Djehuty, also known as Thoth, the god of wisdom, writing, mathematics, and measurement - often depicted as an ibis-headed person in the act of writing.
